Turtle Planters & Crafting with Others

Thursday I spent a few hours with a pair of other artist on Zoom. Each of us had our own project we were working on. It was a crafting date. It can get lonely crafting by yourself all the time. It was an issue I was working on resolving before the quarantine hit. But then the quarantine happened. Zoom and other such face to face apps like that seem to be a great solution for this.

All three of us have varying degrees of experiences with polymer clay and it was great to trade tricks and resources. As well as showing off what we were working on and getting suggestions on how to best do them.

I was working on a project I have had on my to do list for a while now. A fairy garden sized turtle planter. Some time ago I made 1:12 scale terracotta turtle planters and then added little gardens to them made of polymer clay succulents.

Well now I have scaled them up to about the size of my garden snails and I have one completed with it's own little miniature garden.

Here are some pictures and videos to show it off.

I decided hot pink would be a fun color to work with.  I am also planning to learn more techniques for making miniature plants with more details.

I look for ward to creating more of these cuties and hopefully to more crafting dates.  If you have some crafting or artist friends I suggest you give a virtual crafting date a try.
